Artist Statement 2022

My work explores the reclamation of the embodied feminine through visual, sonic, and movement based art. Much has been lost, stolen, buried, erased in relation to the feminine, nature, magic, and time. My work is a pathway to remembering what once was through my body and being, rediscovering the connection and power between the earth and our humanity. How we relate to the earth, how we relate to our bodies, personal expression, and emotions, and how we relate to the sacred, are all themes present in my work.

Most of my artistic work has been in visual 2-D forms, but for the past several years I have incorporated and studied more embodied mediums such as movement, dance, performance, and singing: using my body as the medium for art. Much of this work has been a challenging process of learning how to find power in my body and take up energetic space. The process becomes the artwork, as it also forms into something more cohesive.

My process is heavily intuitive, rooted in subtleties, feelings, and delicate listening. I explore the duality of amorphous intuitive process and the artist’s need for structure, as well as the duality of timelessness and modernity.
